Terms of Service
Last updated: April 2026
By using encouple, you agree to these terms. Please read them carefully.
1. What encouple is (and isn't)
Encouple is an AI-powered relationship support tool that provides personalized guidance, self-discovery assessments, and communication exercises for couples and individuals.
Encouple is not a substitute for professional therapy, counseling, or medical advice. If you or your partner are experiencing a mental health crisis, domestic violence, or suicidal thoughts, please contact a qualified professional or emergency service immediately.
- National Suicide Prevention Lifeline: 988
- National Domestic Violence Hotline: 1-800-799-7233
- Crisis Text Line: Text HOME to 741741
2. Your account
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. One person per account — accounts are not transferable.
Guest accounts are temporary (7-day expiration, 20-message limit) and may be converted to full accounts at any time. All data is preserved during conversion.
3. Acceptable use
You agree to use encouple in good faith for its intended purpose — relationship self-improvement and personal growth. You may not:
- Attempt to extract, reverse-engineer, or manipulate the AI system prompts
- Use the platform to generate harmful, abusive, or illegal content
- Share your account credentials with others
- Use automated tools to access the service (bots, scrapers, etc.)
- Attempt to access other users' data
4. Your data
You own your conversation data. We store it to provide the service (personalized memory, insights, progress tracking) and do not sell it or use it for advertising. See our Privacy Policy for full details on data handling.
You may request export or deletion of your data at any time by contacting privacy@encouple.com.
5. AI-generated content
Responses from encouple are generated by AI and should be treated as suggestions, not professional advice. While we build on validated clinical frameworks, AI responses may occasionally be inaccurate, incomplete, or inappropriate for your specific situation.
You are responsible for evaluating whether any guidance is appropriate for your circumstances. When in doubt, consult a qualified therapist or counselor.
6. Subscriptions and billing
Encouple offers Basic and Premium plans. Premium subscriptions are billed through Stripe on a recurring basis (monthly or annually). You may cancel at any time — your access continues through the end of the current billing period.
We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days' notice to active subscribers. Price changes do not apply retroactively to the current billing period.
7. Service availability
We strive to keep encouple available and reliable, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The service may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, updates, or circumstances beyond our control.
We reserve the right to modify or discontinue features with reasonable notice. If we discontinue the entire service, active paid subscribers will receive a prorated refund.
8. Limitation of liability
Encouple is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform.
Our total liability for any claim related to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
9. Account termination
You may delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, with notice except in cases of severe or illegal misuse.
Upon termination, your data is deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Significant changes will be communicated via email to active account holders at least 14 days before taking effect. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
